Dilli meri jaan

Speaking of cities, we had a good family outing to Qutub Minar in Delhi (Mehrauli) during one of the pleasant mid December days in 2010.

I had not been to this place for may be 18 years! But this time around, I could see some positive changes around the complex, with some touches of the Common Wealth Games renovation and construction still fresh from earlier part of the year. Parking was almost as chaotic as ever - I think it has more to do with the lack of civic sense of the citizens rather than the lack of amenities provided by the government.

Apart from this blemish, the day was a great experience in itself, with the balmy winter sunshine, and the magnificence to be enjoyed of a monument as timeless as the Qutub itself, the ruins which surround it regaling a story about the times they had seen. The iron pillar always puts me in awe me every time I see it or read about it.
